SpongeBob and Hey Arnold!
Hey Arnold, Doug, and Rugrats!
Is this fake news?
Not just cartoons, they're Nicktoons!
Today is the 34th anniversary of the Nicktoons, as well as these first three Nicktoons that started it all (Doug, Rugrats, and Ren & Stimpy)!
With special thanks to other Nicktoons shows in the past and present like The Loud House, Avatar, CatDog, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Garfield, Danny Phantom, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, The Fairly OddParents, Jimmy Neutron, Wild Thornberrys, Invader Zim, SpongeBob SquarePants and more!
(This shot was shown in a flashback montage of the episode "Doug's Magic Act", but what actual episode was this actually?)
It's May 2025 and the Nicktoons channel is still airing nothing but Spongebob. I'm surprised The Loud House or any other past Nicktoons (such as Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Doug, CatDog, Rocko’s Modern Life, The Wild Thornberrys, The Fairly OddParents, Jimmy Neutron, Danny Phantom, and others) are not airing on Nicktoons or even on the Main Nickelodeon channel (as that aforementioned channel aired random movies every day) and they are some of Nickelodeon's biggest shows.
So is anyone wondering if Nicktoons is ever gonna stop airing nothing, but SpongeBob? I wish I want all these past Nicktoon shows back!
UPDATE: The Patrick Star Show is scheduled to leave the Nicktoons lineup starting Tuesday, May 20th. Replacing that aforementioned show will be SpongeBob.
Guess what?
The voice actor behind Ren & Stimpy, Doug Funnie, Roger Klotz, and many others turns 73 today!
A tie between SpongeBob and Hey Arnold!
The ending shot of the Rugrats episode "Dummi Bear Dinner Disaster."
Blue's Clues and You, the reboot of Blue’s Clues, used to be a great show on Nick Jr. and it even spawned a big city movie on Paramount+, until at the end of March 2024 the show was removed from Paramount+.
What's more this year after only 4 episodes on the fifth season (26 episodes were supposed to be planned), the show was off the air on television forever.
Why? Due to Paw Patrol taking over?
Please comment below.
Since it's been almost a year since SpongeBob SquarePants aired nonstop 24/7 on the NickToons channel, with a few reruns of The Patrick Star Show and/or (rarely) Kamp Koral, (to all Nicktoons fans out there) what are the best Nicktoons to watch if you’re tired of SpongeBob (in your opinion) and why?
Remember, it can be all of the other Nickelodeon cartoons (except SpongeBob!) such as:
- Rugrats
- Ren & Stimpy
- Doug
- Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
- Rocko's Modern Life
- CatDog
- As Told by Ginger
- Danny Phantom
- Hey Arnold!
- The Fairly OddParents
- Rocket Power
- The Wild Thornberrys
- Invader Zim
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012)
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- The Legend of Korra
- Jimmy Neutron
- The Loud House
- My Life as a Teenage Robot
- The Angry Beavers
- El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera
- Garfield
... and more!
Also, state your reason on why one or more of the following above is the best Nicktoons to watch and/or you've picked it.
TeenNick used to have a Nick Rewind block, covering many of it's 90's shows and even some of it's 2000's shows. This block was shut down in January 2022, presumably to get more Paramount+ subscribers. However, since the block's shutdown, the scheduling for the Nick channels has gone way downhill, and even Paramount+ is suffering these days, with shows inexplicably getting removed.
In an ideal world, they would replace either Nicktoons or TeenNick with Nick Rewind. But sadly, that's extremely unlikely at this point. So, I'm asking, would a Nick Rewind channel to try and bring back some of the older shows work today, or is it all a lost cause?
Plus, there's also the factor that cable TV in general has been on a decline in roughly the past 15 years. Cable subscribers are currently at an all time low. Australia has done it a few months ago.
We’ll see!
