The 7th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards were held on May 7, 1994 at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, California. The awards show was hosted by Joey Lawrence and Candace Cameron Bure, with Marc Weiner hosting the east coast portion of the show from Universal Studios Florida. This ceremony was the first KCA broadcast since the 1992 show as Nickelodeon did not produce any KCA show in 1993. It was also the first show to air in the month of May. Additionally, this is the first event take place in two locations in Florida and California.
The theme of this year's show was comic books, with the main stage taking on the appearance of a comic book city, complete with action sound effects. Meanwhile, the East Coast stage took on a Transylvanian/Frankenstein motif, with a coffin, electric chair, stone walls, and various other Transylvanian elements onstage.
Throughout the show, an unknown person wearing orange sneakers known only as the Orange Avenger was sighted numerous times, especially during the Net News segments throughout the show. The Avenger was first reported by Linda L.R.B, who showed a police sketch of the shoes, saying that they could be very dangerous. The Avenger caused many incidents throughout the show, from blowing up the Pantages Theater at the start of the show, to messing around with some of the rides at Universal Studios Hollywood. In the end, The Orange Avenger was revealed to be Bob Saget, who was trying to be a big part of the show, even saying "Those aren't my shoes, they're my feet. They're embarrassed because they're Orange!" He also said that he had a lot of help, as multiple presenters appeared wearing orange sneakers, showing that anyone could be an Orange Avenger.
