The 16th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards were held on April 12, 2003 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Rosie O'Donnell hosted the ceremony for the eighth and final consecutive year. Cosmo and Wanda also appeared as the announcers.
The theme of this year's show was video games. The Barker Hangar was transformed into "Nickelodeon's Game Station", where everything was stylized as a video game. During the show, all of the slime (including the slime used for Tony Hawk's Skateboard Slime Jump Stunt) was stolen by the evil Sliminator as he attempted to destroy the KCAs, but a group of celebrities were able to stop him by playing through a series of four video game challenges (based on the nominees for Favorite Video Game), not to mention using the occasional cheat code, and got the slime back.
The telecast was followed by the series premiere of All Grown Up!

- Jim Carrey - At the end of the show, Jim came out carrying two buckets of slime he'd brought after hearing about the Sliminator stealing all the slime. Rosie explained that although they had already won the slime back from the Sliminator, there was still one thing that Carrey could do: be the target of a head-to-toe sliming. After being hit with slime geysers and doused with buckets of slime, Carrey suddenly unleashed slime geysers on the audience, along with tons of feathers and confetti, all while blasting the audience further with a slime hose.
