"A Present for Santa" is the 41st episode of Dora the Explorer. It is also the show's first Christmas episode.

Synopsis[]

It is Christmas Eve and Santa is coming to Dora's house later tonight to bring them presents. While she and Boots are waiting, he has a present for her with rainbow wrapping paper and a green ribbon. She opens it and inside was una flauta, a flute. She plays it and now it was her turn to give Boots a present with green star wrapping paper and a blue ribbon. When he opens it, he sees that it's a pair of maracas. He plays them while Dora plays the tune of "Feliz Navidad" on her flute. They have a present for Santa with green wrapping paper and a picture of him on the tag close by. Soon after, Dora's parents come with a blanket for them. Cole wishes her Feliz Navidad and Boots Merry Christmas as they yawn and fell asleep.

While Dora and Boots are asleep, Santa brings out lots of presents to put under the tree. When they wake up, they're amazed to see that he brought lots of presents. Then they realize that he didn't take his present with him. They go outside. Dora asks the viewer if they see him. She and Boots do so from afar. Boots asks where he's going. Dora tells him that he's going home. Dora asks the viewer where he lives. The viewer tells her that he lives at the North Pole. Boots tells her that they got to give him his present and if they don't, he may not get any presents for Christmas. So they had to figure out how to get to the North Pole. They ask Map for help. He says that the North Pole is very far away and that they have to go up the snowy mountains and across the icy river to get there. Dora and Boots get going to find the snowy mountains. They realize that they're far away and need someway to get up them. Suddenly, they see Azul who has Christmas lights. They think that's cool. He comes to a stop and Dora asks Azul for a ride up the snowy mountains because they have a present for Santa. He tells her and Boots that he can get them over the snowy mountains and then he warns them that the snowy mountains get cold and that they need warm clothes for the weather. Dora checks Backpack for warm snow clothes. He does have some for her and Boots. The viewer has to get out two snowsuits, four winter boots, and four mittens. In no time, Dora and Boots are dressed for the snow. They climb aboard Azul, get going, and along the way, they see Benny the bull who will get a teddy bear for Christmas, Isa who will get a pink hat for Christmas, and Tico who will get roller skates for Christmas. After getting a sneak peek on what they're going to get for Christmas, Azul heads up the snowy mountains. At the top, a barrier was put in front of the tracks. Azul screeches to a stop which causes Santa's present to be shaken loose and fly off. Dora and Boots had to find it fast. They picture in their heads that it's shaped like a rectangle. They look for all the rectangles in the snow. They find a bunny wearing a hat under a triangle of snow. They find two rectangles. One has a sled underneath and the other is Santa's present. The latter lands in Dora's hands. she and Boots thank Azul for the ride. He wishes them Feliz Navidad.

Dora and Boots get going on foot to the icy river. Suddenly, they hear Swiper. Boots wonders if he swipes on Christmas. Dora doesn't know for sure but they better be on the look out. He's in a snowman suit and follows them. Every time they stop, he stops. They examine the snowman who's following them. Dora tells Boots that she doesn't believe that it's just a snowman. She asks the viewer if it's just a snowman. The viewer says no. Then she asks the viewer who's inside the snowman suit. The viewer thinks it's Swiper and it is. He comes out of hiding and swipes the present. He's about hide it when Boots tells him that it's a present for Santa and that if he and Dora don't give it to Santa, he may not get any presents for Christmas. Swiper stops and thinks about what Boots said. He feels bad, gives it back to Boots, and runs away. Dora and Boots wish him Feliz Navidad. After getting the present back, Dora and Boots approach the icy river. Suddenly, they heard high-pitched barking. They see that it's a husky puppy. He goes, "Ayudenme, ayudenme," which means "Help me, help me," in Spanish. Dora asks him, "¿Que te pasa, perrito?" which means "What can I do for you, puppy?" in Spanish and he goes, "Mi mama, mi papa". She understands the fact that he is looking for his parents who are on the other side of the river. Boots tells him that they'll get him across it. Dora tells him, "No te preocupes, perrito," which means "Don't worry, puppy," in Spanish. She and Boots have to figure out a way for them to get across the river and some male voices go, "We can help." Dora and Boots ask the viewer who said that. The viewer tells them it's the whales. One tells them that they can jump across on their backs. Dora tells the viewer that the husky puppy needs help to do so. She also tells the viewer that he speaks Spanish. So she reminds the viewer to tell him, "Salta," which means "Jump," in Spanish. The viewer tells him, "Salta," four times. He jumps on one whale, then another and another until he gets across the icy river to the other side. His parents were so happy to see him back. Dora and Boots get a lift from one of the three whales to get across the icy river. They thank them. "You're welcome", they all say. They spray water out of their blowholes and splash away.

Dora and Boots are getting close to delivering Santa's Christmas present. They just have to get to the North Pole, which is so far away. Suddenly, the husky dogs return with a sled. "Vamonos!" says the husky puppy. "Let's go," says Dora and Boots as they hop onto the sled. In no time, they reach the North Pole. Dora thanks the husky dogs as they leave. She and Boots approach Santa's house. Boots knocks on the door. Dora tells him that Santa is not here yet and must still be delivering presents. Suddenly, a group of voices say, "A present for Santa, a present for Santa." Boots listens. The same group of voices say the same sentence quietly and then they say it out loud. Dora and Boots saw it's Santa's elves. Two approach them. One says "Santa should be home soon." Another says, "Listen, when you hear the jingle bells," and they both say in unison, "Santa will be home." Dora and Boots listen for the sound of jingle bells. The viewer hears them and they do so too. Santa is coming home. One elf tells Dora and Boots, "You can put the present under the tree." All the other elves say, "Yeah! Put the present under the tree."

Dora and Boots head inside and one of the elves closes the door behind them. They look at Santa's Christmas tree. They notice that he didn't get any presents. They decide to put theirs under it. They do so and they listen for him. Dora asks the viewer if they see him. The viewer does so outside. Dora and Boots look out the window. Then they hid behind the tree as he walks in the door. He looks at their present and laughs. They peek out, greet him, and tell him to open it. He does so and inside is una guitarra, a guitar. He loves it, thanks Dora and Boots, and they all hug. He tells Dora and Boots that they should play a song together. "Great!" Dora and Boots say. Dora, Boots, and Santa play and sing "Feliz Navidad". After the song, the reindeer pull Santa's sleigh. He tells Dora and Boots that he has to get them home. So they get a sleigh ride back from him and have a blast. Soon after, they're back at her house.
