This show has a wiki of its own: Big Nate Wiki.
Big Nate is an American computer-animated web-television series and the fifty-second major Nicktoon. The series first premiered digitally on Paramount+ on February 17, 2022[1] and began airing on Nickelodeon on September 5, 2022.[2] It follows the adventures of a boy and his friends in sixth grade. It is based on the comic strip and book series of the same name by Lincoln Peirce. The series is executive produced by Mitch Watson and John Cohen. Despite Peirce not having much involvement, he collaborates with the producers for the show.
A sneak peek of the series was shown during halftime in Nickelodeon's broadcast of the 2022 NFL Wild Card Game on January 16, 2022.
On March 24, 2022, it was renewed for a 10-episode second season.[3] On August 3, 2022, it was announced for an additional 10 episodes to the second season.[4]
A theatrical short titled "Bad Hamster", in which Nate, Teddy, Francis, and Chad teach their audience how to make homemade ice cream, but an ice cream-induced food coma may set loose a giant terror in the Wright household, was shown in theaters before Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank.[5]
On March 28, 2024, the series was removed from Paramount+ for no good reason as part of a "strategic decision to focus on content with mass global appeal."[6] Despite this, the series has remained available to buy on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV, with the previously-unreleased episodes of the second season debuting on August 27, 2024.

Development[]
In 1991, when the Big Nate comic strip was first published, Peanuts executive producer Lee Mendelson purchased the option from Lincoln Peirce to make a 2D-animated Big Nate Saturday morning cartoons for NBC, who “was paid $5,000 to write a quote-on-quote bible describing the characters and outlining a few story ideas”. However, NBC canceled their Saturday morning cartoons block the day after the deal was finalized due to the massive runaway success of Saved By The Bell, which caused the series to go into development hell.
An animated Big Nate series was eventually announced by Nickelodeon on February 19, 2020. In a news release, Nickelodeon's executive vice president of animation production and development, Ramsey Naito, stated that she had wanted to adapt the Big Nate book series into an animated series for a long time. The series was initially going to release around September 2021 but was postponed to February 2022. Despite this, clips from the series appeared early on Tooned In.
