Chum Chum is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Fanboy) of the series, Fanboy & Chum Chum. He's Fanboy's best friend and sidekick. Although he is younger than the other main characters, he is still in the same class as them. Show creator Eric Robles explained on the Nickelodeon message board that this is because Fanboy snuck him into his class and the teacher never noticed the age difference.
Background[]
His family comes from the tribe known as "Chulks" from the country of Chulkistan. His cousins and "Chuncle" Joe are Chulks just like him. Chum Chum currently lives and has lots of fun as a roommate with Fanboy.
Personality[]
He is depicted as sweet, kind and childlike. He is very optimistic and believes in the good of certain things. Because of his innocent nature and small size, some characters are charmed by him most notably Yo.
In comparison to Fanboy, Chum Chum is usually the more nice, mellow and "less intense" of the two, though he still acts quite hyperactive.
Chum Chum is shown to be smarter and more mature than Fanboy and points out the stronger concept than what he said. Despite being the smarter one of the two, he can be very gullible, forgetful and foolish at times.
He is shown to be rather sensitive and dislikes when others make fun of him or his friends.
He has a bit of a feminine side as he acts innocent and kind-hearted, loves things like ponies, rubber duckies and teddy bears, and wears bright colors. However he also has a boyish side such as playing in the mud and loves action figures, comics and sports.
He is also loyal and will always stand up for Fanboy or his other friends no matter what.
Appearance[]
Chum Chum is short and chubby, with peach skin. Like Fanboy, he has a blush on his cheeks, but a little more pale. He has dark brown hair with bangs swoopt to the left. There are two parts at the top, that curl away from each other. His right front tooth in his upper jaw is slightly. He wears an orange and yellow uniform, with white briefs worn outside his costume. In the pilot from Random! Cartoons, Chum Chum wears an orange collared shirt with yellow buttons on the chest instead of his logo.
Trivia[]
- Speculation: Because of his socially naïve and eccentric behavior and poor social skills has led to a fan theory that he might be autistic/neurodivergent.
- His real name is most likely Sir Edmund Chummery, though likely minus the "sir" part.
- He doesn't like the detached finger trick, as he fainted after seeing Fanboy do it in the episode "Wizboy".
- He's shown to be a bit effeminate due to his sensitivity, being kind-hearted and has also worn feminine clothes once.
