David Ogden Stiers (October 31, 1942 - March 3, 2018) was an American actor, voice actor, and conductor. He has appeared in numerous productions on Broadway, and originated the role of Feldman in The Magic Show and the role of Major Winchester in M*A*S*H.
In early 2009, Stiers announced that he was gay and “very proud to be so” in a blog interview that was reported by ABC News.
On Nickelodeon, he provided the voice of Byron from The Angry Beavers and Karroo from The Wild Thornberrys.
On March 3, 2018, Stiers died at his home in Newport, Oregon, at the age of 75, from complications related to bladder cancer.
