Dora and the Fantastical Creatures is a theatrical short and the test pilot for the upcoming 2023/2024 new generation reboot series, DORA. It premiered in theaters before PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie on September 29, 2023.[1]

Synopsis[]

Dora and Boots embark on an incredible adventure to the land of alebrijes, the most magical and colorful creatures in the rainforest. There, they must band together against Swiper to save the beloved alebrijes and their Copal Tree Celebration.

Cast[]

  • Diana ZermeƱo as Dora
  • Asher Spence as Boots
  • Marc Weiner as Swiper
  • Anairis QuiƱones as Luna/ArcoĆris
  • Danny Burstein as Sol
  • Kate del Castillo as Ale

Trivia[]

  • This marks the first appearance of Dora's new design and it also marks the first time Diana ZermeƱo voices Dora after the departure of FĆ”tima Ptacek. She once again reverts to her Season 1-6 base outfit instead of her Season 7-8 one, like in Dora and the Lost City of Gold while having eyebrows as seen in Dora and Friends: Into the City!. She now has teeth from her mouth and she wears a purple shirt underneath her Season 1-6 pink T-Shirt.
  • This short marks the first time Boots is voiced by Asher Spence after the departure of Koda Gursoy.
  • The opening of this pilot uses the surprising return of the Nickelodeon Movies 2009 logo since the 2011 movie of Johnny Depp's Rango.
  • This is one of the only movies where Dora breaks the 4th wall like in the original series.
    • This is most likely the case in the movies based on the Pretty Cure series from Japan, where the viewer is asked to wave their "Miracle Lights" to support the Cures in their biggest battles.
  • This is the first animated (short) Dora film.
  • Swiper acts very evil, rude and selfish to Dora and Boots after Dora tells him to give back Glowie, instead of switching to his good side.
  • Swiper's line, "I'm Swiper, not Give Things Backer!", was later spoken in "Wonky Wishing Wand".
