Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado

Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado is an American adventure comedy film directed by Alberto Belli from a screenplay written by JT Billings. It is loosely a live-action adaptation of the animated television series Dora the Explorer created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes, and Eric Weiner. It stars Samantha Lorraine and Jacob Rodriguez.

Plot[]

Ten years earlier, Abuelo tells the story of Sol Dorado, a fallen magical star which has the power to grant a wish, to Dora and Diego, who love to explore the Amazon jungle together. Dora was given the Map, which she believes guides her on her adventures. She rescues a monkey and names him Boots.

In the present day, Dora, like always, believes this would be her successful adventure to find the Sol Dorado. Despite being resistant, Diego goes along, considering it the last adventure. Inside a cave, they interpret a quipu leading toward an artifact. However, the cave sets the fire, before Diego activates his Rescue Pack to save Dora, who eventually lose her Map in the fire.

Heartbroken, Dora assumes she is nothing without the Map. She gets diverted by the passes of the Jungle World, managed by Camila the Crusader, whom Dora had admired for years. Dora and Diego get employed there; Dora becomes a guide on the ride with annoying scripted puns, while Diego holds the show of Mango, his Cockatoo. There, they discover that Camila and her henchmen are digging a forbidden area in search of the Emperor's Bracelet, the key to Sol Dorado.

Though Diego calls this a myth, Dora sneaks over a box and unlocks it using the artifact, from which the bracelet traps her hand and gives her vision to the next three entrances to find the Sol Dorado. Camila finds the box empty and suspects Dora of theft. She sends her men to stop Dora from escaping, but the bracelet helps Dora avoid them. On the ride, Diego discovers that her ex-girlfriend, Naiya, is the driver, during the escape and encounter with the henchmen. Eventually, they crash in the middle of the jungle, potentially leaving Camila behind.

From her Backpack, Dora gives Diego his Rescue Pack and Naiya a medical kit, to continue their adventure. Dora visions a Tomb and starts finding the way on her own. Dora's group enters the tomb and interprets quipo, leading them to the graves before the walls could crush them. Eventually, they find a clue to another location through Dora's vision, the Maccows of Cinchona. At night, Swiper the Fox traces the group and swipes away Dora's backpack, making the track easier for his owner, Camila.

Dora wakes up heartbroken over the loss, so Diego calls off the mission, before the bracelet traps him. He opens up about his plan for an internship, which is why he was not willing to co-explore. Though they move on to the second location, where a math puzzle guides them through the quipu swings. While Naiya, a sudoku player, tries solving the puzzle, Diego takes hold over the strings to unlock the bridge leading them to another clue. Dora gets emotional about not wanting to lose Diego, before he comforts him and gets a vision of the Temple. Outside, Camila captures them all, while Dora and the Rescue Pack fall off the cliff during the encounter.

Dora revives during the full moon and rediscovers that she is the actual map herself. She reads the stars to find the exact way, activates the Rescue Pack against Camila's group, and opens the Temple using the artifact. However, Camila also manages to enter behind Dora. Camila opens up about her career failure, which led her to search Sol Dorado; now softening her heart.

Inside, Dora and Camila interpret the quipu together, leading them to weigh the gold on the scales to open the gateway ahead in return. The last scale could not weigh enough, so Camila sacrifices herself to open the gateway, before the bracelet brings her back. They connect the third clue, and Camila opens the Sol Dorado using the bracelet as the key.

Upon discussing the wishes, Camila and Dora say they have found their true selves already; the Crusader and the Explorer, respectively, so they finally use the wish for Diego to not lose his internship.

Diego and Naiya reconcile and vow to stay connected. Diego bids his farewell before leaving for New York City. Dora reunites with Boots and finally sees the green flash of light at sunset. Diego has left a new map for Dora, prompting her for another adventure.
