"Eugene's Bike" is the second half of the first episode of Hey Arnold!

Synopsis[]

On the schoolyard of P.S. 118, Eugene pulls up on his brand new bike that he got as a present for Flag Day. He parks it in the bike rack, but when Arnold sets down his books on the rack to tie his shoe, the weight of the books knock down all of the bikes, flipped Eugene's bike on to the street, where it gets run over by a car. Eugene, seeing his bike crushed, begs for the garbage man not to throw it out, to no success. Arnold then gets the bike out of the trash can and vows to fix it. The next day, he presents the newly-fixed bike, and Eugene gleefully rides it. However, Abner then brings Arnold the chain, which he forgot to put it on the bike, and Eugene winds up in the hospital. That night, Arnold begins devising a plan to make the best day for poor Eugene.

The next day, Arnold apologizes to all he's done to cause (indirect) harm to Eugene. He also tells him that the next day will be a one-on-one day in which nothing bad happens to him. The next day, he keeps his promise and takes Eugene on a friends' day out. First, they go to a baseball game, in which he almost catches the ball, instead hitting his head. Next, they buy hot dogs, in which Eugene chokes on, having Arnold save his life using the Heimlich method to force it back up again (that scene in particular saved an actual kid's life), just to have it poke his eye. Then, they go on a sightseeing tour, in which the binocular set he used was broken, so he fell in. Finally, they took a ferry ride, which Eugene is motion-sick to and throws up. Arnold again apologizes for all the trouble he caused Eugene that night, but Eugene admits it was the best night ever. The bus pulls up and Eugene waves goodbye - but not before the bus closes on his already-broken arm. Arnold sees that he has dropped his baseball card from before, and decides that he'll give it to him another day.
