That Girl Lay Lay (stylized as THaT GiRL Lay Lay) was officially greenlit on March 18, 2021. It is a live-action buddy sitcom created by David A. Arnold that premiered on September 23, 2021.[1] Production began on April 8, 2021 and filming began on April 19, 2021.
On August 7, 2021, Nickelodeon released a trailer for the series.
On August 24, 2021, Season 1 wrapped production.[2]
On January 28, 2022, the show was renewed for a second season.[3] Production for the second season started on April 18, 2022.
On August 5, 2022, Season 2 wrapped production.
On March 28, 2024, the series was removed from Paramount+ as part of a "strategic decision to focus on content with mass global appeal.", and this was only eight days after its conclusion.
Plot[]
That Girl Lay Lay follows Lay Lay, the perfect hype girl and best friend that anyone could ever want from their personal affirmation app. Struggling to make her mark at school and needing a best friend to talk to, Sadie wishes upon a star that Lay Lay was real and could help teach her how to stand out. When her wish comes true and Lay Lay is magically brought to life, the two friends learn that when they are together, they can accomplish anything, and navigate life as teenagers and discover who they truly are.
