Relationships[]

  • Pups - The PAW Patrol pups are Ryder's best friends, who he loves so much with all his heart. Ryder often affectionately tells his dogs, "You're all good pups." He greatly appreciates their assistance on missions and devotes most of his time to designing new technology for the pups. He surprises them with upgrades whenever he can. In "PAW Patrol: The Movie", he and Chase had a complicated relationship when his backstory and how Ryder found him as a young pup. After Chase failed his second mission, they had a minor falling out where a heartbroken Chase accuses Ryder of betraying his trust and giving up on him when things get hard. A hurt Ryder tries to reason with Chase, but Chase runs away in response. After Liberty and the other pups rescue Chase from the dog school jail, Ryder shows him the city intersection where he saved his life and explains to him why he chose him was not out of pity, but because he was the bravest dog that he ever met. After that, Chase faces his fears for his determination to save Ryder when he frees him from the building.

Cap'n Turbot is also a good friend of Ryder and the pups, often taking them on boat rides or fishing trips and telling them stories. A major moment in the two's relationship is in "Pups Save a Mer-Pup", when Cap'n Turbot is called upon by Ryder as an official PAW Patrol member.

Appearance[]

Ryder has fair skin and spiky brown hair. He wears a white shirt, a primarily red vest, blue cargo pants and gray sneakers. His red PAW Patrol badge is pinned to the upper half of his vest.

Pup-Tag[]

Ryder's pup tag is used as an honorary status as the leader of the PAW Patrol, but sometimes uses it to communicate with the pups. His badge is the same as the main one used for the team, a big paw in the middle and red background. His Mighty Pups one looks the same, but the metal is a bit more darker and it has a gold background. His Dino rescue one is the same as Rex's but in red instead.

Equipment and Vehicles[]

The pup-pad (also known as a pup-tablet) is one of Ryder's gadgets. The appearance of the pup-pad resembles and has similar functions of a normal electronic tablet like an iPad; however, the pup-pad has the function to work as a cell phone and its synced and connected to each PAW Patrol pup's collar. It has a special sliding mechanism, which Ryder uses this to call the PAW Patrol team to the Lookout, PAW Patroller, or the beach ("Pups Save a Mer-Pup" only) when an emergency arises. It is also connected to the Projector in the Lookout and the PAW Patroller, Ryder's ATV, and Ryder's vest.

The ATV is Ryder's vehicle. It is a very high-tech vehicle which can transform into three modes, ATV mode, Hovercraft mode and Snowmobile mode. The ATV mode is the default mode of the ATV. It is used as a form of transport to get around Adventure Bay during land-based missions. The Hovercraft mode is the ATV's second mode and it's usually use in aquatic missions. The Snowmobile mode is the ATV's third mode and used in snow-related missions. The vehicle number is 01. Like Ryder's Pup-Pad, it is seen in all episodes of PAW Patrol. In "Pups Go All Monkey", it was revealed that Ryder's ATV has autopilot. In "Ultimate Rescue: Pups Save the Tigers", Ryder's ATV was repainted just like Skye's helicopter. He can transform it during the aviator mission.

Ryder has a four wheeled skateboard for use in Mission PAW missions.

Ryder is really skilled in inventing and repairing gadgets. He is seen in several occasions fixing up his ATV or the pup's gadgets along with Rocky. He also knows how to operate all of the PAW Patrol's equipment and gadgets, but he is too big to drive their vehicles.

Trivia[]

The official PAW Patrol Twitter page cleared rumors about Ryder being an orphan in 2016, in a response to a fan. They explained that Ryder's parents are "around", but that the producers intend to keep the series focused on Ryder's dogs rather than his family.
  • In early episodes, Ryder's voice was low-pitched and sounded more robotic-like, his voice gets more affective in later seasons.
  • Ryder is stated to be ten years old on some press materials, yet he is somehow allowed to drive an ATV around Adventure Bay's streets.
  • As revealed in "Pups Save a Toof", Ryder has an irrational fear of Brussels sprouts and has even had nightmares involving them.
