Frederick "Fred" Charles Willard (September 18, 1933 - May 15, 2020) was an American actor, comedian, writer and singer, best known for his improvisational comedy. Known for his roles in such mockumentary films as This is Spinal Tap and Waiting for Guffman, he also appeared in numerous television roles, such as his role as Frank Dunphy on Modern Family. He also played Shelby Forthright, CEO of Buy n Large, in Pixar’s 2008 animated film WALL-E.
For Nickelodeon, he voiced Sammy Redman in the Hey Arnold! episode "Rich Guy", and later provided the voice of Albert Reynolds, the Loud kids' maternal grandfather, in the first four seasons of The Loud House.
On May 15, 2020, Willard passed away in his sleep from natural causes at the age of 86.
