Hazel Antoinette Wells is the protagonist of The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish. She is a 10-year-old girl who is also the current godchild of Cosmo and Wanda, following Vivian Turner and Roy Raskin in Fairly Odder.[1] She is the daughter of Angela and Marcus Wells and sister to Antony Wells. She's described in the show's theme song as "feeling all alone", due to her brother leaving for college, thus the reason she received the fairies.
Biography[]
Hazel grew up in an unknown suburban city with her parents and older brother Antony, with whom she was very close, as she often talks about her past experiences with him very fondly. At some point, her dad got a new job at the Galax Institute in Dimmadelphia, forcing her to move. Antony left for college around the same time.
Personality[]
Hazel is a spunky, quirky and fun-loving girl who is very passionate about the things she likes, no matter how odd they may seem to others. Among other things, she loves playing with rocks, watching scary movies and reading the manga series "Prime Meridian". She is generally friendly, caring and kind, though not without her moments of selfishness.
At the beginning of the series, Hazel feels lonely and overwhelmed due to her family moving and her beloved older brother Antony leaving for college. As a result, she has her moments of anxiety, shyness and insecurities, as she is afraid that she won't fit in with her new classmates or that Antony will forget about her.
Similarly to Timmy, Hazel occasionally makes impulsive and selfish wishes that don't end well. However, her wishes are just as often manifestations of her insecurities that the wishes help her overcome.
