Ignacio better known by his wrestler name as Nacho is the main protagonist of the film, Nacho Libre. He was played by Jack Black, when Ignacio was younger both of his parents died due to unmentioned circumstances while he was still a young cook. he was the son of a Scandinavian Lutheran missionary and a Mexican deacon.
his life long ambition is to be a luchador however wrestling is prohibited by the monastery, one night he gets chips for the orphans because of how terrible his food is, he gets robbed by a man named Steven who would later become his wrestling partner Esqueleto. He wants to be respected by the other friars, and so his true feelings to Sister Encarnacion. so he decides to ignore the rules of the monastery and become a luchador. He and Steven would go against other wrestlers but lose every match, Ignacio tired of losing decides he they should go up against Ramses the famous luchador.
When the people of the monastery find out he has been wrestling, he decides to leave going on a journey of self discovery. Steven says he managed to get him a brawl to have with Ramses by running over Ramses foot with his bike while he was stealing some food from an orphan, the two battle Ramses but are almost defeated by him. Ignacio doesn't give up hope managing to beat up Ramses and overthrowing him by using the move the flying eagle kick. This makes him get respect from the other friars and Sister Encarnacion.
