Jonathan Kimble "J.K." Simmons (born January 9, 1955) is an American actor. He is perhaps best known for his roles on television as Dr. Emil Skoda in NBC's Law & Order, and other shows in the Law & Order franchise, Assistant Police Chief Will Pope in TNT's The Closer, neo-Nazi Vernon Schillinger in the HBO prison drama Oz, and Ford Pines on Disney's Gravity Falls, as well as on film as J. Jonah Jameson in the first Spider-Man film franchise, as Mac MacGuff in Juno, and as the voice of Cave Johnson in Portal 2. In 2011, Simmons appeared on the Adult Swim series NTSF:SD:SUV.
Simmons' first role on Nickelodeon was as Dan the Barber on The Adventures of Pete & Pete. He later voiced Tenzin in The Legend of Korra, the spinoff of Avatar: The Last Airbender. He also had a guest spot on SpongeBob SquarePants, voicing Conductor Maestro Mackerel in the episode "Snooze You Lose".
