Lila is one of the main characters and protagonists of the pilot, Little Freaks. She gains the superpower of illumination after being exposed to radiation following an explosion at a toilet paper factory, which happens to be not too far from her home and the homes of her friends. She was voiced by Heather Hogan.
Lila is a svelte, preteen girl who has mostly black hair with choppy bangs and the edges of her hair in the back are highlighted or dyed purple. She has black, beady eyes and light, lavender skin. She wears hair accessories that are a pair of purple clips; a black, short-sleeved shirt; a purple, long-sleeved shirt underneath that; a purple, pleated skirt with black on the sides; black, knee-high socks; and purple slip-ons.
Lila is casual, but has her moments of nervousness. She has an aggressive side as well. In addition to illuminating literally, she is exactly that figuratively as well. She's very analytical and insightful when she speculates. She's the most serious and mature out of the friends in the group and of the teammates. When she mentions that they need something "flashy and dramatic", then says that's her, the latter is another trait she states about herself.
Lila is walking with Wayne and Macon on a sidewalk when Wayne talks about his flight ability being so disadvantageous. Lila tells him her own problem of fireflies being drawn to her whenever she glows. Swatting at them, she tells them to "get lost" and that she's not their "mothership". When Wayne complains about the wrong flavor of a smoothie he got, which is strawberry-flavored and he happens to hate, Macon confesses that he swapped it for the flavor that Wayne prefers. Wayne gets so mad at him for this, he discharges and involuntarily flies onto a tree branch. Lila asks Macon just how many books there are in Wayne's backpack. Using his X-ray vision to check, Macon tells her Wayne has mostly cans of baked beans, 13 to be exact, and one book. Macon also asks Lila if she's aware that Wayne wears boxers. Lila is disgusted and responds with, "Ewww". Macon tells Wayne to jump down from the branch, but Wayne is too afraid, not knowing just how far he is from the ground. Lila says he's not even looking. Seeing Sweeney, Lila and Macon ask him to do the favor of helping to get Wayne off the branch. Reluctantly, Sweeney obliges and uses his power of nature to telepathically communicate with the tree, which lowers Wayne back to the ground. While all four of them walk together, Sweeney offends Wayne by calling him a dork when the former brings up hanging out with the others wouldn't be as bad if they were as cool as he is. Wayne becomes angry again, causing him to fly onto a satellite dish on the roof of someone's house. Wayne's little brother, A-Ron, happens to be passing by on his bike and thinks it's cool how he managed to climb up there. Wayne says he wishes he could.
Later, that night, Lila and the boys enter the toilet paper factory once Wayne is brought back on the ground once again. While there, the boys say her name in a sing-song way, wanting her to light up the place. Unamused, she asks them if that joke has gotten old yet. Sweeney says it may be for her, but not for them. Lila literally shines as she obliges lighting up the factory. She tells Wayne she has a theory for why Wayne tends to fly often if he'd like to hear about it. He says he would and she explains the situation of his flight when angry is similar to her situation of glowing when she's nervous. She mentions the latter has happened to her before after the time she was asked to attend an event called the Spring Fling Dance. Macon mentions how they had fun with her so much, they made her flicker on and off like a Christmas light. She concludes that whenever any of them feels a certain emotion, their superpowers are activated. When Wayne gets mad once again and begins to fly, Lila and Sweeney grab him by his legs, pulling and weighing him down before they fall on the floor. Macon jumps on top of the others, forming a dog pile. Wayne asks how he'll be able to control his anger. Macon tells him he'll have to resist getting mad to control his flight power.
An hour before school starts, Lila, Sweeney, and Macon have Wayne restrained in a chair with duct tape wrapped around him, and the chair, to keep him stationary should he get angry before an anger management session. Some weeks later, Lila, Sweeney, and Macon walk together on a sidewalk again when after receiving a call from Wayne, Lila tells the other boys he can't join them due to his being busy with the chore of polishing a mailbox. Macon says he almost misses angry Wayne not being with them. Then, they spot A-Ron and three other boys across a street. On a dare, A-Ron tells the other boys he'll climb up a bagel shop called Fred's Fancy Bagels and Bagel Holes onto the bagel statue on the roof. Unaware that's Wayne's brother, Sweeney comments on how stupid enough that kid is to actually do it. Lila grabs Sweeney by his shirt roughly and face-to-face, she informs him on who that is. As some firefighters come to assist A-Ron in getting back down, Lila and the others run off to Wayne's house. Outside of there, as Lila and the others catch their breath, she tells Wayne the situation with A-Ron. Wayne says he can't be of any help, because his flight power wore off and he managed to control his anger after a few weeks of anger management. Sweeney tells Wayne they'll get him down and return to the bagel shop.
By nightfall, a crowd has gathered at the scene when Lila and two of the boys arrive. While the crowd witnesses A-Ron clinging to the giant bagel statue, Lila tells Sweeney and Macon that they need a distraction, something that's literally flashy. Macon uses his X-ray vision again to see through the bagel shop and finds the windows open. Lila bets the toilet seats must be up as well. Wayne gets there and tells Sweeney and Macon to anger him by telling "yo mama" jokes, and he regains his flight power. Lila enters the shop, says "Two Words: Spring Fling", and illuminates the shop's interior with her body. After Wayne comes to A-Ron's rescue and they return to the ground, Wayne tells the others he guesses that they took a pic of him in front of a billboard with a couple of Winnie-Wets-A-Lot dolls, and they show the pic to him on a camera phone. Lila and the boys stick out their hands, and put them on top of one another in an all-for-one, one-for-all pact as they declare themselves the Little Freaks.
