The series is based on Mattel's doll line of the same name. The series premiered on October 28, 2022 on Nickelodeon in the United States.[2]
While Nickelodeon does not own the copyright to this show, as it belongs to Mattel alone,[3] Nickelodeon Animation Studio was involved throughout the production.
On November 17, 2022, it was renewed for a 20-episode second season. Season 2 is also the final season of the series.[4]

Trivia[]
- Shea Fontana, a writer known for DC Super Hero Girls and Polly Pocket, is the showrunner.
- This incarnation is likely separate from the previous cartoon series, which was made up of short webisodes and longer TV specials.
- The series shares some similarities with Monster High: The Movie, but with a few inconsistencies:
- In the movie, Clawdeen has been accepted to Monster High; in the series, she discovers the school and tries to get in.
- In the movie, Draculaura's interest in witchcraft is exposed and eventually accepted; in the series, it is kept secret and only Clawdeen and Frankie are in on it.
- This is the first CGI Nicktoon to be released on the main channel since the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
