Nickverse was a free to play crossover multiplayer online game that was developed by Paramount Game Studios featuring iconic Nickelodeon characters. This game was freely available as an experience on the Roblox platform. The player can explore areas centered around various Nickelodeon franchises. This experience was released on March 31, 2022, and is officially licensed by Nickelodeon. Despite this, only the SpongeBob and Avatar maps are in the game. Nickverse does have a central obby in the map as well, though it isn't located at the racetrack. There is a place to ice skate in the Avatar world as well as a Krusty Krab minigame on Red vs. Blue in the SpongeBob world. This game has been shut down and privated and and replaced by SpongeBob Simulator and TMNT: Battle Tycoon.[1]

Gameplay[]

The gameplay of Nickverse is the same as Roblox except with some Nickelodeon elements in it. As the player is in the Nickelodeon blimp, SpongeBob and a Nickelodeon worker welcome the player to the Nickverse. The Nickelodeon blimp arrives at the Nickelodeon hub. They meet some of the Nickelodeon characters and the player can participate in world events, drive vehicles on the racetrack, do quests, explore SpongeBob and Avatar worlds, etc.

Nickverse was first announced on Twitter by Nickelodeon with its beta release trailer[2] and it was released in its closed beta on March 14, 2022 before being fully released on March 31, 2023. The game had over 13 million plays. The game had evolved through the years as well as lots of updates and promotion events releasing such as the 2023 Kids' Choice Awards one. Around March 2023, the main hub area was revamped with a new racing game. This game was a official Roblox game as it was licensed by Nickelodeon as the game never got content deleted for copyright claims although other unofficial Nickelodeon games were content deleted. On October 5, 2023, Nickverse was officially shut down and private.

Nickverse was developed by Paramount Game Studios with the help of @Paramount_Dev and a few other creators. This has been leaked on Twitter sometime 2022 prior to its release by Nickelodeon. This game was released on March 2022 which 14 was the beta release and 31 was the real release. The game is also available on the Paramount Game Studios group.

Promotional events[]

This game had an event for the 2022 Kids' Choice Awards event around March 2022. Nickverse later had an event for the theatrical release for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 where there was an obby for the player to complete for an award.[3] In October 2022, there was a Halloween-themed event as well as a Lucky Charms event.[4][5] In December 2022, there was a Christmas-themed event called "Winter Wonderland." In March 2023, Nickverse released a event for 2023 Kids' Choice Awards along with a Lunchables promotion on building lunch statues for the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song.[6] On June 19 2023, Nickverse released a limited time promotional event for Garfield's 45th birthday with a obby as well as a Garfield skin for completing the obby.[7][8]

  • King Jelly's Swarm: It is a world event when the player battles the King Jellyfish by catching jellyfish.
  • Hoverboard Racing: It is a racing event when the player uses hoverboards to race as it takes place at the Nickverse neighborhood.
  • Slime Royale: It is a world event on when players battle with slime guns and the one becomes the winner with the most hits.
  • Dance Battle: It is a world event when the player dances and one becomes the winner. This event takes place at Goo Lagoon and the Chum Bucket.
  • Glider Event: It is a world event on when you use your glider to glide through rings and one becomes the winner. The gliding rings act similar to the ones in The Cosmic Shake.

In one of the production art for the game, there were going to be some furniture/vehicles/clothing that were going to be used.[9][10][11]

However, some of them were scrapped from the game due to unknown reasons as they were not seen in the experience.

Reception[]

This game was ranked as the best new games in Roblox's ultimate guide book. This has made Nickverse one of the very popular experiences on Roblox. Nickverse also received ratings for how high quality it is.[12] It was also confirmed that the game can be played by young people. However, As of sometime in March-April 2023, Nickverse has gained less then 50-100 players lately mainly due to the popularity of other Nickelodeon fan games on Roblox. The game currently has more than 13 million visits, 10,000 likes, 4,000 dislikes, and 82,000 favorites.

Notice for Nickverse being unavailable and being replaced with SpongeBob Simulator and TMNT: Battle Tycoon.

  • It was announced that Nickverse became becoming unavailable on Roblox sometime in 2023. It was replaced by TMNT: Battle Tycoon and SpongeBob Simulator.
  • Not counting a cameo as tennis balls in Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis, this game marks the final appearances of Cosmo and Wanda's original designs before they were redesigned for The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish.

  • The SpongeBob costume gamepass for the game is improperly capitalized as "Spongebob Costume."
  • When SpongeBob welcomes the player to Nickverse, "Jellyfishing" is misspelled as "Jelly fishing."
  • SpongeBob's house appears to be missing its flowers but it has flowers in the rest of the series.
  • The Chum Bucket's path is much bigger then it is but it is smaller in the series.
  • When Nickverse was released in beta, the Chum Bucket is missing but it is added during an unknown update. This happened many times during the SpongeBob franchise.
  • When you see Cosmo and Wanda in the lobby, Cosmo appears to be poorly animated as his face appears to be glitched.
  • In the furniture shop, the image of Betsy Krabs' house is accidently named "Imagination" which is a image of a meme from "Idiot Box."
    • As well as that, Barnacle Boy's hat was accidently named "Krusty Krab hat" which was a employee hat for the Krusty Krew.
