Dasdasi, sometimes referred to as Oobi: Dasdasi, is an adaptation of the Noggin series Oobi. It originally aired on IRIB TV2 in Iran.
The original puppeteers from Oobi did not return for this series and it features an all-new cast. According to an interview from 2013, the producers watched English episodes of Oobi before developing the concept and decided to create a version specifically for an Iranian audience.[1] The show was written and performed in Persian.
78 eight-minute episodes were made.[2] The series ran from September 22 to December 20, 2012, with one episode premiering roughly every weekday for three months.[3] It had been broadcast in seven territories by mid-2013.[4] It has never been aired outside of Asia.
Summary[]
Dasdasi features a cast of five hand puppets: two children, a mother, a father, and a grandfather. Some of the props used are identical to those on the American series. The set pieces are completely different. Unlike the original show, Dasdasi focuses on elements of Iranian culture.
