Paramount was founded in 1912. It has become the oldest movie studio ever in Hollywood, beating Universal Studios by one month. Controlled by Paramount Global, Paramount and its subsidiaries are also involved in television production, theme parks, international film and television distribution, and theater operations in Canada and western Europe. Its films are distributed by United International Pictures in Europe (a joint venture between Paramount itself and Universal Studios).
