Phoebe and Her Unicorn was a planned animated series based on the comic strip of the same name by Dana Simpson. The show would've featured a story about a girl named Phoebe going on adventures with an unicorn named Calendula Skynose.
In June 2020, it was revealed that Nickelodeon had won the rights to produce a cartoon based on the strip. No further details were known during that date, but Dana presumed Nickelodeon treated her as an afterthought.
However, in December 2022, Dana revealed on a post that Nickelodeon had scrapped production on the show because the executives weren't sure a show with a female protagonist would attract a male audience, which came as a surprise. She added she would be keep trying to highlight the show and wasn't the first time it was scrapped. This is also despite the fact that Nickelodeon had previously picked up and run The Wild Thornberrys, Dora the Explorer, As Told by Ginger, My Life as a Teenage Robot, The Mighty B!, The Legend of Korra, and The Casagrandes, all of which had female protagonists.
