"Quack Shoes" is the 6th episode of The Fresh Beat Band.
Summary[]
Marina is in her room, sleeping. She wears duck slippers and they combine to make a duck quacking sound, which she mistakes as there being an actual duck in her room. She gets up and eventually realizes that the quacking sound she heard was in fact just her duck slippers. Kiki then calls her, and she reveals that she's outside practicing her tap dance moves. That reminds Marina that it's Tap Dance Day at Music School, so Marina gets off the phone with Kiki and rushes out of her room, forgetting that she was still wearing pajamas. She eventually realized this and got dressed.
Meanwhile, Kiki and Shout are waiting outside, and they see Twist doing tap dance moves, but with his hands. Marina came out of the apartment but seemed unaware of the fact that she still had her duck slippers on. Marina realized that she still had her slippers on and took them off, but had her tap shoes underneath. After she took off her slippers, the Fresh Beats sang a shortened version of the song "Let's Dance Everyone."
After they sang the song, the Fresh Beats went to the park to practice their tap dance moves. Twist started to dance first, and Marina played a beat on her drumsticks as he danced. He started to go a little loco around the lamppost. Shout started to dance next all around the park, but eventually his tap shoes got stuck in a palm tree. Twist thought that they could get Shout's shoes down by huffing and puffing and blowing them down, but, of course, it didn't work. While singing the song "Friends Give Friends A Hand," the Fresh Beats tried more plausible ideas to get Shout's shoes down. Such as using a lasso, sitting on each other's shoulders, and shaking the tree down, but they all didn't work. Twist even had a ladder to try to get the shoes down, but it wasn't long enough.
After the song ends, Reed comes by and the Fresh Beats explain that when Shout was tap dancing, his shoes got stuck in the tree. And since the Fresh Beats have to go to school soon, Reed said he'll find something in order to get Shout's shoes down from the tree. In case Reed doesn't get Shout's shoes down just in time, Shout proposes that he could possibly dance in his socks. When he tried to dance in his socks, it didn't work because Twist, Kiki, and Marina explained that when tap dancing, your shoes are supposed to make a sound, otherwise you can't hear the rhythm. So Shout dances in his socks again. Only this time, every time he tapped his toes, he said the word "tap." But it didn't work because when he dances faster, it would be harder for him to say the word "tap" over and over again.
Since saying "tap" various times won't work, Twist suggests that Shout can strap trash can lids on his feet when he dances. He put the lids on his feet, but it ended up making Shout fall over and move crazily around the park. Twist then has an idea to go buy some flip-flops that have little cymbals on them so that a sound can be heard every time he taps his toes. Marina thinks that it's a cool idea. However, she suggests finding some shoes they already have that make a sound when Shout dances.
Twist, Kiki, and Shout arrive at Music School while Marina is getting some shoes for Shout to dance in. Ms. Piccolo comes in and notices that Shout only has socks on, and she says that Shout can't tap dance in his socks, otherwise no rhythm can be heard. Thankfully, Marina arrives with the perfect shoes for Shout to dance in... her duck slippers. Even though they are slippers, they are still shoes that make a sound, and Shout can dance perfectly well in them. Since the duck slippers work, the Fresh Beats go on stage and perform the song "Tap It Out."
After the song ends, Ms. Piccolo expresses how she really liked the Fresh Beats' super cool tapping and quacking performance and exits the room singing the song. The scene transitions back to the park, where Reed uses an extendo-arm to grab Shout's tap shoes from the tree. Shout then decides to dance with both the duck slipper and his tap shoe, one on each foot. The Fresh Beats are then seen taking off their tap dance shoes, and Shout says that it was really awesome to dance in shoes that quacked.
