Quest for the Shaven Yak Starring Ren Hoëk and Stimpy is a 1993 video game for the portable Sega Game Gear video game system, developed by Realtime Associates for Sega of America, Inc.. The game was based on the hit Nickelodeon series, The Ren & Stimpy Show. Unlike most Ren & Stimpy video games, this particular game was made exclusively for the Game Gear, although Tectoy, Sega's Brazilian publisher, ported the game to the Master System in Brazil in 1993.
"Quest for the Shaven Yak" was a 2D platform game and was one of the most successful Game Gear titles for that year. The player could choose to play as either Ren Hoek, or his pal, Stimpson 'Stimpy' J. Cat and face a variety of obstacles in classic platforming environments.
Game levels included: Stinking Dry Desert, Wet Bayou, Perilous Mt. Höek and the Great Frozen North.
Powerup weapons included a bar of soap for the floating soap bubble attack.
The game ends with the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" dance.
As mentioned above, this game was one of the more successful Game Gear titles of 1993.
