- “These were the nicest pups I've ever met! Actually, the only pups I've ever met.”
- ―Rex
Rex is a recurring character of the Nick Jr. series PAW Patrol and the deturagonist of PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie. He live in the Dino Wilds, a hidden area near Adventure Bay where ancient dinosaurs still live. He has the ability to speak to dinosaurs, which he uses in rescue missions.
Personality[]
Rex has a very sweet personality, and is knowledgeable about dinosaurs. Due to his ability to speak to dinosaurs, he has quite a way with them. He has a soft spot for baby dinosaurs in particular.
Despite his disability, he is quite determined and doesn't let anything slow him down. If a dinosaur's in trouble, he'll do anything he can to save it, no questions asked.
Appearance[]
Rex has black, brown, and light cream fur in patches. His eyebrows and eyes are brown. He wears a black and blue helmet, a lime-green vest, and a wheeled dino walker that carries his hind legs.
Pup-Tag[]
Rex's pup-tag is a blue 3-fingered dinosaur paw with a lime green background.
Equipment and Vehicle[]
Rex's pup-pack contains a dino claw: it consists of a giant claw like a dinosaurs with a stretchable cable. This tool allows Rex to swing or climb to high places. With this, Rex can also grab heavy things like a log.
His vehicle is an azure with gray highlights and green streaks truck with stegosaurus plates. It has a ramp in the back that allows him to enter and exit with ease and the ability to lift up its wheels. Its vehicle number is 19.
Skills and Abilities[]
Rex can understand the speech of dinosaurs and serves as their translator.

Trivia[]
- He is the first disabled pup in the series.
- The second is Charger (missing part of a leg) from "Rubble & Crew".
- He is the first character to use a wheelchair.
- The second character to use a wheelchair is Park Ranger Rose from Rubble & Crew.
- So far, it is unknown why Rex is disabled.
- His name is a reference to the Tyrannosaurus Rex, a dinosaur.
- Rex also means "king" in Latin.
- In an early toy, Rex has yellow eyes instead of brown.
- He is a Bernese Mountain Dog.
- Like Everest, Tracker, and the other secondary members of the PAW Patrol, he does not live with Ryder and the main pups at the Lookout.
- Instead, he lives in the Dino Wilds with Cap'n Turbot's relatives, making him the first pup of the reserve team not to be alone, lost, abandoned, or forgotten. It is likely that he was adopted by Dr. Tammy Turbot and her daughter.
- He acts as a fifth reserved member of the PAW Patrol, being called on when his skills (in dino knowledge) are required.
- It is unknown how he got his badge.
- It is possible that he did a rescue like Everest to earn his, but off-screen.
- Rex is the third member of the team to speak the language of other animals along with Chase and Marshall. Along with Tracker, he could be considered bilingual.
- Rex has been first called on a mission 5 times.
- Rex has been called for backup 1 time.
- Rex has been called into action (either a first response or backup) 6 times.
- Rex has never been first deployed with Marshall or Rubbleas a pair of two.
- Though it has happened in the episodes, "Dino Rescue: Pups and the Big Rumble" and "Dino Rescue: Pups and the Lost Dino Eggs", it was with the other pups at the time.
- He is the only pup to walk (drive) into his vehicle.
- As the Mighty Pups saga ended with "Mighty Pups, Charged Up: Pups vs. Three Super Baddies", Rex, including the rest of the new pups who debuted in sub-series after him, did not obtain Mighty Pup powers alongside Wild as well.
- Not counting "PAW Patrol Mighty Pups: Save Adventure Bay!", which came out after the last Mighty Pups episode.
- In the episode, "Dino Rescue: Pups Save a Pterodactyl", it is implied that he has a fear of velociraptors.
- In some promotions, his collar is blue instead of lime.
- Rex can technically go on his hind legs without using his paws since he's able to do it automatically with his wheels (ex: when picked for a mission).
- In a height chart, as well as the illustrated book, "Save the Dinosaurs!", Rex is shown without his vest, revealing that part of his wheelchair is connected to two blue belts around his waist. As of now, these are the only two instances in which Rex is seen without his vest.
- In his concept art, he originally had a wheelchair made of bamboo and wood.
- His inclusion in PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie marks the first time an auxiliary pup from the TV series has appeared physically in the film canon. Everest and Tracker have previously appeared in pictures on Ryder’s pajamas.
- With this, he'll also appear in the movie animation style.
