Splitting Adam is an American comedy television film that aired on February 16, 2015. The film stars Jace Norman (from Henry Danger), Jack Griffo (from The Thundermans), Isabela Moner (from 100 Things to Do Before High School), and Tony Cavalero (from 2016's School of Rock).[1]
The film won Best Children's Program at the 2016 Leo Awards. Also, director Scott McAboy won Best Direction in the Children's Program category.
Synopsis[]
Adam Baker (Jace Norman) is an extremely busy 15-year old and has too many things to do. One of his many jobs is working at Crash 'N Splash with his crush, Lori Collins (Isabela Moner) , and his nemesis, Vance Hansum (Jack Griffo). Mr. and Mrs. Baker leave for a one-week trip and Adam's uncle, Mitch (Tony Cavalero), was going to be watching Adam. Mitch was a magician, who wasn't very talented. He had bought a tanning bed with him or so they thought it was. That night, his friends, Sheldon (Amarr Merritt Wooten) and Danny (Seth Issac Johnson) are playing in their treehouse. Sheldon explains that Adam's little sister, Gillian (Tate & Abigail Chapman), was hiding because they had agreed to play Hide and Seek, but Sheldon wasn't trying to look for her. Adam, Sheldon, and Danny begin looking for Gillian, but at one point, Gillian pops out of nowhere and scares Adam. Adam falls into Mitch's tanning bed and after Sheldon and Danny leave, Adam goes to his room, but then, he passes out. The next morning, he wakes up and finds another Adam next to him on the bed. When they get up, Adam screams and runs away. He hits a wall and falls down. The clone is named Adam #2.
Sheldon and Danny find out, and Adam explains. Sheldon and Danny want to use the tanning machine, but Adam doesn't let them by cutting the cord to what he thinks it is the tanning machine, but is actually the treadmill. Adam and Sheldon go to Crash 'N Splash and Lori a.k.a Lori Collins explains to the staff that they are holding a fundraiser named Splash-a-palooza to help keep Crash 'N Splash and needed people on a planning committee. Sheldon tricks Adam into raising his hand and when they get home, they find that Adam #2 had made another clone named Winston who was doing the lawn work Adam was meant to do. Winston wasn't smart and acted like an animal. Sheldon and Danny make two more clones of Adam: one of them who was a party animal named Party Boy and a good listener named Sensitive. Party Boy puts a lampshade on his head. The clones sleep in a treehouse.
Sheldon's objective is to make Adam awesome. Lori then goes to a mall to assist in her brother's party and Party Boy was there pretending to be Adam. Adam and Danny go there, but Party Boy ends up partying too hard that he smashes Lori's face into a cake. Winston is at Gillian's ballet practice, Sensitive is at Magic Mitch's magic act to give him support, and Adam #2 and Sheldon help with the planning committee. Lori goes to Crash 'N Splash and Sensitive goes there too and apologizes. He convinces her to accept his apology. They get Adam a lunch with Lori by trapping Vance in the dumpster. Sensitive tells Lori a poem. But then, Vance sees Sensitive. Vance believes it is Adam and he tries to get him but he misses.
Adam regrets what he's doing because he feels like a liar. Then, Lori comes to his house and all the clones hide. Lori gives Adam his book that Sensitive had left behind when Vance had run toward him. Adam realizes that Vance was perfect and they had to fight perfect with perfect. Adam, Sheldon, and Danny make another clone that is named Perfect. Perfect goes to Crash 'N Splash and he sees someone drowning. Perfect saves her and the manager decides to let Perfect be a lifeguard and he puts Vance on break. Vance angrily leaves and Lori goes after him. Vance won't listen and he leaves. Perfect drops Lori off at her house. He gets Lori to meet with Adam about Splash-a-palooza, but Adam takes Lori to dinner instead, and he is extremely nervous. Adam takes Lori to Crash 'N Splash. Perfect and Sheldon follow them. Adam and Lori begin to have fun. Perfect is angry because he thinks Adam is ruining this.
The clones are helping Adam with all his chores and jobs while Adam promotes Splash-a-palooza with Lori. Perfect decides to get rid of Vance once and for all by getting Winston, Party Boy, and Sensitive with him. Perfect is mean to Vance and Vance yells at him. He makes Vance see Winston, Party Boy, and Sensitive. Vance runs away and becomes very scared. Then, Perfect dumps a bunch of water on Vance and he corners Vance. Vance screams and runs out of the park. Sheldon sees Perfect. Mr. Mattis is angry about Vance leaving. In anger, he fires Sheldon and threatens to fire Adam too if he didn't find Splash-a-palooza another headliner.
Adam #2 is cleaning the tanning bed with Gillian and he then sees a sign that said that the machine wasn't supposed to be used on humans. At the magic act with Magic Mitch, Mitch sees that Adam had a rash on his arm. Adam gets a text from Lori saying to meet him at the park. Mitch comes with him. Lori tells Adam that Vance was gone and they needed another headliner and they decide to replace him with Magic Mitch. Adam and Lori get to Adam's house and they find a huge mess, including a llama in the house. Adam goes in the bathroom and he finds Sensitive tied up and taped. Sensitive tells Adam that Perfect did it. When he goes into another room, he finds Winston tied up, too. He finds everyone else imprisoned and then, Adam tries to leave with Lori and all the clones arrive. Lori finds out and begins to cry, but Adam tells Lori that she had shown him that the real Adam wasn't so bad after all. Adam #2 shows up and tells them what he found out. He shows them a video of a man who tried to clone himself. He says that the clones shared pain and he had a rash. Eight hours after the symptoms, the original and all the clones would disintegrate. The only way to stop it was to put the clones back in the bed at at-least 37 miles per hour with the duplex ignitor in the machine. Uncle Mitch sees the clones and wants to use them for the magic show. Adam explains what they needed to do, but Mitch then shows them that the bed was destroyed and the duplex ignitor was gone. Sheldon and Danny arrive and Danny begins to fix the tanning bed. At the magic act, Magic Mitch is nervous. Gillian tells him to pretend he's only doing the trick for Gillian. Vance Vance Revolution can't perform, and Magic Mitch makes a box appear with Gillian in it. Then, one by one, he makes each clone appear ,and then, he makes them all disappear. Everyone at the event loves it, and then Adam arrives and tells her to come with him. But then, he reveals himself to be Perfect.
The real Adam tries to find Lori, so he tells Gillian to kick him. All the clones hurt and Perfect falls down. Lori takes the duplex ignitor from Perfect and runs away. As Adam is trying to leave, Vance interrupts Adam and starts to hurt him. Lori runs to the top of the slide. Perfect follows her and he causes her to nearly fall off the slide. Perfect tells Lori that he would save her if she gave her the ignitor. Adam and Vance see Perfect and Lori. Vance realizes that he should be hurting the Adam at the top. Adam runs up, but Vance doesn't because he was afraid of heights. Lori gets onto the slide and throws the duplex ignitor to Danny and he begins to fix the bed. Adam and Perfect begin to fight. Danny gets the tanning bed working. At one point, Adam is able to get Perfect to the slide. Perfect falls down the slide and into the tanning bed, where he vanishes. But then, Adam nearly falls off the slide, but he is saved by Adam #2 and the rest. Adam says goodbye to his clones. Sensitive gives Adam his poem book. He goes down the slide and vanishes. Winston goes down, too. Adam thanks Party Boy for teaching him how to have fun. Now, Adam #2 is the only one left. Adam #2 tells Adam that they would still be there whenever he needed them. They hug and Adam #2 goes down the slide and vanishes. Adam leaves.
Adam and Lori kiss, and the next morning, Adam wakes up and starts to worry that it was a dream. But then, his parents come home and comfort him a bit, he then sees a slice of pizza on the ceiling from earlier, causing him to smile, releasing it wasn't a dream. Magic Mitch had cleaned up the mess and he gives Adam the duplex ignitor. Magic Mitch leaves for fame. Then, Vance suggests to Mr. Mattis to put Adam's name over Vance's on the plaque. Adam and Lori go out for a day of fun. Then, Mr. Baker sees that Gillian had cloned herself and Mrs. Baker sees a llama in the backyard.
