The Splat Zone Gallery

The Splat Zone (also known as Portal to Fun and We Make Fun by its promos) is the seventeenth (fourteenth if excluding pre-Nickelodeon eras) and current generic era of Nickelodeon. It is also the seventh era of Nicktoons and the fourth era of TeenNick (the twelfth is including TEENick and The N's eras). It debuted on March 4, 2023, replacing the 2017 Kids First era. Kids' Choice Awards: All the Noms was the first program to air under this era when Nick at Nite signed off at 6:00am. SpongeBob SquarePants-however-is the first series to air under this brand.

In January 1, 2024, TeenNick and Nicktoons gain new rebrands to match Nickelodeon.

The “Portal to Fun” campaign launched on May 8, 2023 with the first of five spots.

This era is famous for updating the logo to be reminiscent to the orange logo in the mid 1980s-2000s. The logo features the now white Nickelodeon logo in front of the splat. That splat was composed with a circular grid, which was also used to make other splat shapes for the brand. The logo is reminiscent other logos from the past. The wordmark remained as the one from 2009, and that version is still used secondarily. Unlike the orange logo, the wordmark expands outside the splat, like the wordmark of the Silver Ball logo.

Bumpers, Idents, and Promos[]

The generic bumpers on Nickelodeon are very unique and include a sense of personality in each of them. There are live action bumpers where we see kids having fun in their neighborhoods, whether they are riding a carousel, or watching their favorite Nickelodeon show. There are CGI bumpers as well, which have the watermark over-inflate and explode, or items shipshape into the network's initial. The brand also had three individual stylized 15-second bumpers, the most showing-off of the brand. Each are made by a different studio and are based on Nickelodeon's popular shows: SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House, and Monster High. The holiday bumpers are rather simple, showing off assets of the expansion.

The brand uses the "Nickelodeon" name more than "Nick" to the point where the latter is quite rare. You won't find any bumper or ident using the shortened version of the name. This may be to complement the naming in other countries. The other networks and brands are not affected by this change, however.

On May 1, 2023, The brand launched "Portal to Fun" bumpers, involving kids putting a body part-arm, head, or foot- through a splat-shaped Portal and dive into the wacky world of Nick. Sometimes it's the other way around.

The "You're Watching" (next) bumpers are now all similar. The text is divided, with the "You're" in the upper part of the screen, and "Watching" in the lower part. It could also say "Keep it Here". There are different variants of these bumpers. They can start out with a ball bouncing towards a wall, or be pulled by a crane. But they all end with the Nickelodeon logo in the center. The bumpers might also start or end with a zooming towards the logo with textures constantly changing as the logo is still animated.

The backgrounds for promos include bold text with smaller text mirrored in opposite vertical sides of the screen. The background is composed of shapes that are made with the circular grid, which is also used for the logo.

TeenNick[]

There are generic bumpers exclusive to TeenNick. They are composed of teenagers spending time with each other. Their world is covered with slime, hoops, slimes shapes, and spheres. They still end with the TeenNick logo in the center.

Coverage[]

The brand debuted in March 4, 2023 in the United States. From August 2023 onwards, Nickelodeon channels from outer countries adopted the brand. Nick.com adopted the brand in June 6 of that year, while the Nick app also did so in June 27. However, they didn't get the brand around the world. The app-along with other TV Everywhere apps by Paramount-shut down in January 31, 2024, while regional websites redirect to the US version of Nick.com.
