The Troll King is a minor character in The Barbarian and the Troll. He is the king of the bridge trolls and Evan's father. So far, he has only appeared in the first and sixth episodes, "Brendar the Barbarian" and "Parents Just Don't Understand", and is mentioned by his son in the episode "Off to See the Wizard."

Appearance[]

He is an overweight Troll with purple skin, dark green hair, eyebrows, and Soul Patch beard on his chin, and yellow eyes. He wears a red cape with gold, spiked shoulder platoons, a gold, long-sleeved tunic with light brown markings on them, a gold crown on his head, brown pants, and a dark brown belt with a gold buckle on it.

No full body of him is shown in the series and He did have his own collector's badge in The Barbarian and the Troll Collector's Quest.

Family[]

Evan is his son who prefers to become a singer rather than a bridge guardian in which he doesn't approve of.

His Wife and he had a rocky relationship, She encourages him to be kind to Evan. When he was being cruel to Evan, she had enough of his unpleasantness when he ate Evan's Lute and the Troll's passage so she put her hand in his mouth into his stomach to get Evan's Lute, toy horse, and the troll's passage out of his stomach to help their son on his quest.

Personality[]

The Troll King has a no nonsense sort of disposition, following the troll standards. He is also Petty and dishonest when he ate Evan's Lute and the Troll's Passage in episode 6

Role in the series[]

In the series premiere, "Brendar the Barbarian", he visits his son, Evan by Evan's grandfather's bridge, due to hearing Evan got beaten by a pre-teen girl and her goat, Helen. He gives Evan a lecture on how his grandfather terrified villagers throughout Gothmoria, even making knights poop their armor and berates Evan for turning it into a "lute lounge". After Evan apologizes to him, he wonders if he was too overprotective as a father. After Evan tells him he wants to be a musician, they have an argument and Evan packs his stuff and accidently knocks over a lamp, causing his bridge to burn. The Troll King tells his son not to come back if he leaves now, and Evan runs away sobbing as his father watches the bridge literally burn.

In the episode "Parents Just Don't Understand", he returns home to find his son, Evan, along with Brendar and Axe with him. He thought that Evan gave up his dream of becoming a musician and came to beg for his old job back. But Evan told him he's doing fine as a musician. After being chased by his mother, the Troll Queen, Evan then tries to ask him about the Troll's Passage, but gets nervous after the Troll King growls at him and decides to instead show Brendar his old room, which is the top drawer of the cabinet. Later at lunch, The Troll King notices that Brendar is trying to tell Evan to ask him about the Troll's Passage. Evan convinces the Troll Queen to show Brendar, with Axe joining them, around the house while he has a talk with The Troll King. He asks Evan why he's really here, which makes Evan go to his room sulking. Later, he and his wife are washing dishes when Brendar, Evan, and Axe leave and Evan finally asks him about the Troll's Passage to cross other Troll Bridges. The Troll King tells Evan he will give him the Troll's Passage for Evan's Lute, which Evan reluctantly does. He eats Evan's Lute and the Troll's Passage. Brendar, horrified of what she saw, tells the Troll King he has no respect for his son, and made Evan sleep in a drawer. Evan then stands up to the Troll King that he will always love him but will never come back to their house, much to his and his wife's shock. After Evan, Brendar, and Axe leave, The Troll Queen then yells non-verbally after Evan and he tells her that it was a little harsh but it's for Evan's own good. Then the Troll Queen, having enough of his arrogance and cruelty to Evan, plunges her hand down his throat. It is unknown what happened to the Troll King after his wife pulled Evan's Lute, toy horse, and the Troll's Passage out of his stomach as he is not seen for the rest of the series.
